InfosecGirls were invited to AppSecUSA 2015 for a panel discussion on “Encouraging diversity and advancing cybersecurity education”. The panel discussion was at 3:30 pm PDT. It was a panel of 3 with Infosecgirls co-founders Apoorva, Shruthi and Elissa Shevinsky, CEO & CoFounder at JeKuDo Privacy Company. The event was moderated by Astha Singhal. NULLCON is an international security conference which is a four day event comprising of talks, workshops, training, exhibition, cyber security challenges, recruiting opportunities and business/recreational networking. It is one of the largest international security events in the Asian subcontinent in terms of the new content and participation. NULLCON 2015 was held at Bogmallo resort of the beautiful state of Goa. The InfoSec Girls were invited to give a talk on Women in Technology on the account of International Women’s Day at Red Hat India Bengaluru office. We had close 20-30 people attending the talk from different departments of Red Hat. Our agenda for the talk was Women in Tech and InfoSec, Cyber crimes faced by women and Career in InfoSec .We talked about Women in Technology and InfoSec and what holds women back and issues faced by them.We spoke on few success stories of women in the world of tech. We also spoke on how cyber-crimes against women is on rise and tips on how to stay safe online and basic etiquette while online. This was followed by a walk-through on career options in InfoSec. After our talk few female employees at Red Hat shared their success stories on how they balanced work life and personal life. Their personal experience in pursuing a career while caring for their families was truly inspiring. The event ended successfully.
